Consultation Liaison Psychiatry / Psycho-Oncology

The Department of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry provides specialist psychiatric consultation for inpatients as well as outpatients from other departments. The department is home to the Psycho-Oncology Unit where researchers have developed an award winning screening tool (Quicatouch), to assess patients for distress, pain and psychopathology. This is now utilised throughout the Departments of Oncology and Haematology, with plans to expand to other hospitals nationally. The team also contributes to the training and teaching of health professionals in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine, clinical and health psychology nursing.
