Overview

Conjoint Professor Jarad Martin is the Director of Research (Department of Radiation Oncology) and Radiation Oncologist at Calvary Mater Newcastle, and Visiting Medical Officer at Genesis Cancer Care, Lake Macquarie Private Hospital.

With strong research interests in the areas of gastrointestinal and genitourinary oncology, as well as the use of radiotherapy in benign disease, Prof Martin has attracted over $10 million in competitive grant funding and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications to date.

Prof Martin’s recent professional leadership roles include: Faculty of Radiation Oncology; Chairperson Research Committee, Faculty of Radiation Oncology, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists; Australia New Zealand Urological and Prostate Cancer Trials Group Scientific Advisory Committee; Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) Clinical Liaison Leader; and Executive, Hunter Cancer Research Alliance (HCRA).

Prof Martin has a wide range of research interests.  Many revolve around the use of new technologies to help optimise the management of cancer.  He is a Principal Investigator on a series of studies using advanced radiotherapy to shorten the duration of prostate cancer radiotherapy.
