Calvary Mater Newcastle is a world class leader in Oncology, Toxicology, Psychiatry and Palliative Care research, ranging in scope from basic laboratory to large scale implementation studies. The hospital is the main centre for cancer clinical trials in the region.
Research is carried out across the site at Calvary Mater Newcastle. The hospital is located on the corner of Edith and Platt Streets, Waratah, NSW. Additionally, collaborative research is conducted in partnerships with other institutions and facilities across the region.
Researchers at Calvary Mater Newcastle conduct research in a number of areas including: envenomation, suicide and self-harm, pain, diabetes, depression and anxiety, breast cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma/skin cancer, head and neck cancer, blood and bone marrow disorders, stroke and cardiovascular disease, and leukaemia/lymphoma/multiple myeloma, to name but a few.
