Dr Jayne Gilbert (PhD) Hospital Scientist

Dr Jayne Gilbert has been conducting research in the Department of Medical Oncology at Calvary Mater Newcastle since 2004. As part of the Experimental Therapeutics group, her main focus of research is investigating novel agents in the treatment of cancer, both as single agents or in drug combinations. Identifying mechanisms of action of these novel anti-cancer agents remains an on-going area of research.  To date this research has resulted in more than forty full length peer reviewed manuscripts in reputed international journals. She has contributed to over 40 abstracts which have been presented at various national and international scientific meetings. Dr Gilbert has received research funding in collaboration from HMRI and Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital. She has co-supervised 2 Honours students as well as University of Newcastle Biotech students. Dr Gilbert was also on the organising committee of the Biennial HMRI cancer conference.
